Department of Clinical Work and Graduates Employment

The clinical department was founded in 1982.

The purpose of the work is to create an effective system of clinical training of highly qualified specialists and medical assistance to the population.

The clinical department was headed in different years by the following persons:

Currently, the head of the department of clinical work and graduate employment is MD, PhD, general practitioner and organizer of the healthcare of the highest qualification category Bauirzhan Kadenovich Omarkulov.

Vice-Rector for clinical work and continuous professional development, MD, professor Bahyt Nurgalievna Kosherova is in charge of the department of clinical work and graduate employment since 2012.

B.N. Kosherova was awarded the diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science and the badge "Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", badge "Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", badge "Kazakhstan Respublikasy Densaulyk saқtau іsіnіңүzdіgіne", Anniversary Medal "Kazakhstan Respublikasynyң tәuelsіzdіgіne 20 zhyl ".

The main directions of the department of clinical work and graduate employment:

• monitoring the implementation of clinical work of teaching staff;

• organization and control of professional practice;

• employment of university graduates;

• monitoring of the clinics activities: KSMU Clinic and dental clinic of KSMU;

• organization and control of advisory bodies - clinical Council and employers;

The clinical activity of the University staff, that works in clinical departments, is one of important sections of the University activity and it is directed to the strategic directions of healthcare development. The purpose of the department activity is provision of effective cooperation with health sector and rendering of qualitative effective medical and consultative, diagnostic and preventive care to population by the staff of clinical departments and University clinics, and also participation in educational sphere formation, which provides training of professional specialist’s competence. In connection with it, the staff of clinical departments takes part in the following activities:

·  Provision of qualitative professional graduate training;

·  Modernization of medical and diagnostic process in clinical departments and University courses;

·  Provision of effective medical and diagnostic, consultative medical care to regional population;

·  Implementation of the results of clinical departments scientific researches in practical health protection;

·  Modernization of the University Clinical Bases activity –Dentistry Clinic, Out-patient Hospital of KSMU and researching of University student and staff health condition.

The system of technical training at the University is based primarily on the work with patients under the supervision of mentors and with the direct participation of students in the process of diagnosis and treatment in the real world. The Department provides all kinds of practices in accordance with the academic calendar. Therefore, every student of the University has a guaranteed contact with patients. This is facilitated by the Memorandum concluded by the university rector and the head of the regional health authorities, as well as contracts to conduct professional practice with more than 350 medical organizations. Early clinical orientation of training allows students to determine the educational path for their future profession.

The main task of training is the development of practical skills and the development of clinical thinking, as well as the formation of physician’s personality needed for independent work as a doctor.

The main areas of employment of graduates are target training, analysis of the demand for graduates, the organization of the distribution of young professionals, as well as monitoring of graduates employment.

The department carries out systematic work on the employment of young specialists - graduates of the University. Database of graduates in «General Medicine» and undergraduates, is located on the University website. Requests of the need for medical personnel are send to the Department of Healthcare, Department for the Protection of Consumer Rights of cities and regions. According to this data, the job bank of the regions is formed and then posted on the website of the university.

University graduates can assess the need for medical personnel in health organizations at the moment, and employers can to explore data about the graduates of this school year. Possessing all the information of interest, the employer has the opportunity to apply for the training of specialists in the fields of internship, residency, considering the period of study that enables the operation of the strategic planning of health organizations and health development of the republic as a whole.

Each year, the University holds a job fair, which purpose is to provide opportunities for direct contact between graduates and employers, contracts for the employment of graduates and undergraduate, contracts for targeted training in internship and subsequent employment. The job fair is traditionally attended by the representatives of the Department of Healthcare of cities and regions, akimats, representatives of medical organizations and business structures. In their speeches, employers and representatives of the executive authorities inform the graduates about the need for medical personnel and social package.

The department throughout the school year interacts with employers. At their request, the department organizes individual meetings with alumni. University assists graduates in finding interested medical organization, provides legal advice to the student. As a result, before training in internship, a graduate student enters into a contract at a job fair and receives a guarantee for employment and often an organization finances his studies. After signing the contract, students in the holiday period come to the future work, get acquainted with the living and working conditions.

The final phase of the work is a private placement of graduates in the meeting of the special commission. Representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare, local government offices, health departments, health care organizations talk to every graduate. Young specialist gets the referrals to work. Within three years, the University monitors the formation of the graduate as a specialist.

Close cooperation with the Medical University of Karaganda regions allows a consistent personnel policy and to ensure the republic doctors, confident in his future.

The deliberative body of clinical training and graduate employment of the department is the Clinical Council, the chairman, doctor of medical sciences, professor K.Zh.Musulmanbekov

The Advisory body of the department of clinical work and graduates employment is the Clinical Board, which is chaired by K. Zh. Musulmanbekov, MD, Professor. It is also the Employers' Council of KSMU which is chaired by the deputy head for the protection of motherhood, childhood and organizational work of Healthcare management of Karaganda region G.K. Mamalinova, PhD.
